Email programs in 2009 were still a bit clunky to set up. The by far most popular email clients were still Outlook 2000, 2003 and 2007. An impressive percentage of around 5% were iPhone emails on iPhone 1 and 2, although mostly consumer emails and not business emails. But this number was far higher than for Lotus Notes and Entourage usage. Even Blackberry experienced a heavy decrease in use.

 

Waiting for the Next Big Thing

Email apps for smartphones were still not so frequent in 2009. It was like the world was waiting for something cool to pop up regarding email clients for business users. It would still take a couple of years before that happened! Stay tuned for more interesting email years to come!

 

Bonus info: Satellite navigation was now entering the mobile phones and Android became mainstream.
