89 Billion Business emails! Seriously?

So according to a 2012 study by the Radicati Group,

“Most of the world’s email traffic comes from the corporate world. In 2012, the number of businesses emails sent and received per day total 89 billion. This figure is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 13% over the next four years, reaching over 143 billion by year-end 2016.”  THE RADICATI GROUP, INC. Email Statistics Report, 2012-2016

143 Billion! Seriously?

That is a LOT of business emails, people!

So how many emails do your employees and colleagues generate every day, week, month, year?

All those precious emails going out to your prospects, customers, partners, and shareholders.

So what percent of those business emails go out with the right company brand image?  The right logo, the right format, the right social network icons linking to the right company pages?

According to GetResponse emails that include social sharing buttons have a 158% higher click-through rate.  So don’t you think it’s worth making sure your employee business emails have the right social buttons in their email signatures?

Here’s another data point from Radicati… about 84% of all email traffic will be spam.

Now most of those spam emails are generated through mass volume email marketing. And companies are spending BILLIONS of dollars on mass outbound email marketing.

Why? Because email marketing works. For every $1 spent, $44.25 is the average return on email marketing investment. (Experian)

One way to improve the effectiveness of your mass email marketing is to push the same campaigns through your employees email signatures.

Why is the email signature more effective than a generic outbound marketing email?

  1. Your employee business emails are peer-to-peer emails. So they almost never get caught in spam filters.
  2. They originate from a trusted sender. So the business emails will be opened and they will be read.
  3. There is no doubt that the recipient is a relevant target. By definition, your employees business email prospects/customers/partners, etc.

89 Billion business emails. Wow. Blows the mind.
